Due to the 18th World Petroleum Congress is to be held in Johannesburg at the end of September 2005, the Organizing Committee of the 5th Russian Oil and Gas Week (ROGW-5) has decided to change the date of the Week and to carry out the ROGW-5 from 31st October to 2nd November 2005 in President Hotel (24, Yakimanka st.), Moscow.

Taking into account that the Russian Federation will preside in the "Group of Eight" in 2006, the main subjects for discussion within the framework of the Fifth Russian Oil and Gas Week will be raising energy efficiency and providing energy safety of the world economy, as well as developing international energy cooperation.

According to the initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the RF, the Fifth Russian Oil and Gas Week is included in the plan of arrangements of the Administration of the President of RF for preparation and provision of the chairmanship of the Russian Federation in the "Group of Eight".

The ministers of member-countries of the "Group of Eight" and other countries, the heads of OPEC, International Energy Agency, APEC and other international organizations as well as the managers of the biggest Russian and foreign companies are planned to participate in the main session "Sustainable development of the world energy - challenges of time" and the international round tables of the ROGW-5.

The problems of energy effectiveness and rational resources use will be considered within the framework of other sessions and round tables of the Fifth Oil and Gas Week.

An International Exhibition "Energy efficiency of Oil and Gas Industry" will act within the framework of the Week at the area of "New Manege" (3/3, Georgiyevskiy per.).

At the present time the ROGW-5 Organizing Committee together with the Ministry of Industry and Energy of the RF is coordinating the scientific-practical programme of the Week and the programme of events with participation of the ministers of energy of "Group of Eight" member-countries and other foreign countries.

The special sessions "State policy of Russia in oil and gas industry", "Development of oil and gas sector of the East Siberia and Far East of Russia", "Modern technologies and equipment for oil and gas industry"" and others events with the participation of the heads of the Federal legislative and executive state bodies, leading Russian and foreign scientists and representatives of financial and business communities are included in the programme of the Fifth Russian Oil and Gas Week.

One of the key events of the Week will be the International Round Table "Cooperation of Russia with the countries of the Central and Middle East and the Northern Africa in oil and gas sphere", co-organizer of which will be the Russian-Arabian Business Council.
